Make the Tough Decision
I’m going to say something very “un-PC” in this post.
Our country could go one of two very different ways this November, and with the upcoming election casting a long shadow of uncertainty over many organizations. Leaders are grappling with tough decisions, anticipating policy changes that could significantly impact their operations.
Use that to your advantage.
In 20+ years, I’ve never seen the political environment impact the workplace, our homes, and our lives so profoundly.
Many leaders are making their decisions based on fear, so in this post, I’m going to try to get leaders to shift their mindset to one of strategic opportunity.
Believe it or not, now is the time for proactive planning. It’s an opportunity to critically assess your organization’s current state, engage in scenario planning, and make necessary adjustments to achieve YOUR vision – regardless of the election’s outcome.
The future is unknowable. The past is unchangeable. So…what’s in front of you, right now?
What do your employees need?
Your customers?
What are your competitors better at than you?
What processes are not working?
If you could wave a magic wand and make any change you wanted, what would it be?
I’m sure there’s something you just thought of, where you’re telling yourself, “I should have made that change long ago.”
Much-needed staffing changes?
A change in strategic direction?
Perhaps one of your departments is over-staffed or under-trained?
Do your workforce analysis and articulate why your organization would benefit in the long run from your magic-wand-idea.
Make that change that you know is needed.
Let the uncertainty inspire you to act.
Get your resources aligned with your vision now, because you never know what the future holds.
